Ali Smith

Ali Smith is a writer, born in 1962 in Inverness, Scotland, to working-class parents.[1] She was raised in a council house in Inverness and now lives in Cambridge.[2][3] She studied at the University of Aberdeen, and then at Cambridge, for a Ph.D. that was never finished.[1] She worked as a lecturer at University of Strathclyde until she fell ill with chronic fatigue syndrome for a year. Following this she became a full-time writer.[4] Openly gay, she met her partner Sarah Wood while at Cambridge University.[1]
